Mobile Net Access Declining ? But not for Long!
The number of people accessing the Internet from their mobile pones is on the slide, according to exclusive figures supplied to PC Pro Magazine by TNS Technology (http://www.tnsglobal.com)
In the UK, 35% of users access the internet from their mobile phone – down from 39% in 2006 – and no wonder as the rendering of .mobi web sites is appalling.
Only 6% use their mobile internet daily, and this has to be about our handsets and what they are capable of. These figures mirror a worldwide decline in mobile internet usage, with only a fifth of people browsing the web on their handset, a 5% decline on last year.
Smartphone users are far more active online, with 77% of them using their handset to access the internet.
The report goes on to say that it is believed that the access will decline. We fervently disagree! As handset becomes more internet friendly, we will see massive increases in usage and my thinking is purely based on the experience with a Smartphone, reflecting the figures above.
Now, haven’t Apple and the iPhone got it just right, and especially with the new 3G version. Though web browsing is faster on the new model, there is no need to see a .mobi web site that all marketing companies and graphic designers have hated from day one – having to repurpose already well made content into something ugly and not user friendly made us all very unhappy!
The iPhone allows you to surf the web and increase or decrease size of the page, which makes reading easier – albeit not perfect. This means that we do not have to repurpose content but can use it completely as it is, saving everyone a huge amount of money!
Evidently, the other Smartphones are to follow suit, but this is still a way off to match the capability and excellent designof the iPhone.
Now, for us and our clients we can get much more out of our marketing Pounds through this medium knowing, that on a PC or Smartphone our web site can be accessed, seen and enjoyed and our message delivered!
Personally, I never thought the mini web sites of the .mobi era would last and this time I was right and I am so relieved.
Internet capabale Smartphones, Apple or otherwise, offer our clients the ability to use and enjoy the internet as it should be.
Long live the iPhone and all that follow her or him or it – it’s just fantastic, whatever gender it is!

What affects wireless internet access
What affects wireless internet access
Wireless internet utilizes radio frequencies (RF) to function. The strength of your wireless signal depends on several elements, which can disrupt your wireless internet connection by interfering with the signal being sent by your wireless router.
Obstacles to a strong wireless connection include walls, floors and lighting installations. To maximize the strength of your wireless signal at home, place your wireless signal at home, place your wireless router as far above the floor as possible and way from walls.
Keep your company’s wireless router in a centralized location in the workplace. Strategically placed wireless repeater units may be necessary to provide good reception throughout the whole office.
Wireless electronic appliances, like cordless phones and microwaves, may interfere with your wireless signal, depending on the frequency the appliances utilize. Appliances, which use the 900MHz band will not disrupt your wireless internet connection.
Your computer’s ability to connect back to your wireless router plays an important role in the strength of your wireless signal. Purchasing an external wireless antenna for your computer will help you improve your computer’s ability to connect with your wireless router.
Your network and internet connection. It could be a neighbor, who has accidentally connected to your router instead of their own; however; it could also be someone who is intentionally stealing your bandwidth and causing the internet speed to drop. Though the easiest way to stop unknown users from connecting to your wireless network is to set up a security password on your router, there is a free program that allows you to view the number of computers that are logged into your Wi-Fi connection.

The Future of Affordable Wireless Internet Access
Internet access has been spreading just as rapidly as cell phone usage over the past decade. While wireless Internet was once a marvel, it is now considered a travesty to step onto a college campus or into a café without free Wi-Fi. Even that isn’t enough anymore. Phone and Internet providers around the country are producing an increasing amount of portable wireless devices and plans. In fact, the day is not too far off when Internet access at the palm of your hand will be as necessary and affordable as a cell phone. The most popular form of portable wireless seems to be the Apple iPhone. This allows customers to access the Internet through the 3G phone network. The development of the iPhone alone is proof of how affordable portable wireless is becoming. When the iPhone debuted in 2007, its 8GB model was priced at 9. Now the 8GB 3G iPhone model costs a mere . Of course, smart phones can only do so much, and students and business workers alike often require a laptop for their Internet browsing. That is where the Internet air card comes in. An Internet air card is a portable wireless device that allows your laptop to connect to the Internet from almost any given location. These range in size and quality, from 5GB USB sticks to the new Verizon MiFi 2200, which can share Wi-Fi with up to five devices. And for those who are frequently traveling, whether it is for business or pleasure, there are international wireless broadband plans. The extent of coverage under these plans depends on the provider, though they are generally more expensive or non-existent the further away from the United States you go. Many Internet air cards also come with international wireless capabilities. Another option for travelers is international broadband card rental. This is much like a phone card, except you rent a small data plan. This is perfect for people who don’t travel often but may be taking a short vacation. Indeed, instant access to wireless Internet is swiftly becoming a reality. While the quality to price ratio needs some adjusting, this is sure to balance itself out once the technology improves – which it is certain to do in the near future.

How to Choose a Wireless Internet Access Vendor for Your Business
Wireless Internet Access allows users to connect to the internet without using a telephone line or hard-wired connection. In many offices, wireless networks have replaced miles of Ethernet cabling, providing intranet and internet access along with portability. Wireless networks are in great demand today because they allow people to stay connected to co-workers, clients, and information no matter where they are. There are numerous providers. If you need help choosing, click here.
In addition to having wireless access on your notebook computer, cell phones and PDA’s also use wireless technology to let you connect with corporate networks, access email, and send and receive photos, podcasts, and videos.
There are some important things to consider when choosing and implementing a Wireless Network:
Company Requirements – Your organization is unique. Don’t select a wireless provider because it runs the most ads. Look for the company that best fits what you need in a wireless provider.
Cost – Find out exactly what access will cost. What hardware needs to be purchased? Is there a minimum contract period? Make sure all the fees and charges are clearly stated.
Technical Support and Training – Does the provider offer 24-hour technical support? What type of training is available for your users? Are there any additional costs for service?
Security – Does the vendor provide security measures such as Static IP Addressing and encryption? You want to make sure that your wireless network is secure.
Reputation- If your provider is local do a Better Business Bureau check. If not, a simple Google search will help you turn up any clients or problems your potential vendor has faced.
Wireless technologies have created offices with no boundaries. Employees can access and send information from anywhere in the world. With the advent of Web 2.0 and the increase of web-based applications, more and more companies are turning to wireless access to reduce expenses and the need for increasing hard drive storage and to increase productivity.
